The Association's Mission The following is the Mission of the Kansas Quarter Horse Racing Association (KQHRA). It is the mission of the Kansas Quarter Horse Association to become the leading Association in the Quarter Horse Racing Industry. It will be accomplished by the Association's efforts in promoting a highly competitive pari-mutual racing environment, which is fair, provides adequate returns, properly rewards participates, improves the quality of horses, and has legislative, public and membership support. The Goals and Activities to support this Mission are as follows: Influence legislation, which will promote a positive and competitive racing industry in Kansas. We will monitor legislative activity in our state as well as other state. We will work with legislators, track owners, other associations, and organizations on legislative proposals. We will work with all parties on slot legislation to insure its passage. We will work on an awareness program to show the economic benefits of pari-mutuel racing in Kansas. Increase participation and purses in quarter horse races, as well as, our sponsored Futurities and Derbies. We will continue to monitor the amount of stake race entries fees, late payment fees methods, race dates and make changes to increase participation. We will work with track owners to promote quarter horse and our stake races. We will work with the membership to increase the number of quarter horse races offered. We will continue to explore ways to increase the number of stallions to be offered at our stallion auction, which supports our futurities and derbies Improve our breeding program for racing quarter horses in the state of Kansas. We will work with the Kansas Racing Commission on supplements paid by Kansas Bred Program. We will work and support legislation to increase those supplements. We will through awards recognize top breeders for their efforts. Increase membership and their participation in activities to promote the racing industry. We will provide our membership with current information on our activities. We will show our appreciation to them for their participation in association. We will conduct an annual convention and awards banquet.
